[the balance beam lies before you, beckoning you to step onto it. meanwhile, the figure stands on the other end of the chasm, tossing the dodge ball into the air casually as it watches you move]

[so far. . . everything seems okay. the figure doesn't throw the dodge ball yet]

[and there's a noticeable lack of heat coming from the "lava"]

[THE FLOOR IS LAVA]

[anyway...HERE SHE GOES... staring at thiefy mcjerkface and his ball]

[AND AS SOON AS SHE TAKES ANOTHER STEP]

[thiefy mcjerkface throws a dodge ball at her feet]

[SCREECH she's going to panic and kick at it]

[she kicks the dodge ball! it goes flying through the air, right back at thiefy mcjerkface. . . who dodges to the side to avoid being hit]

[now she's flailing to regain her balance]

[the figures capitalizes upon this flailing and throws another dodge ball at her! THIS TIME aiming for her torso]

[SHRIEKS AND DUCKS, scrambling to stay on]

[she dodges successfully! and somehow manages to stay on the balance beam]

[the figure pauses, giving her a few moments of reprieve so she can advance forward in her quest]

[SHE'S ADVANCING, but don't think she doesn't notice that]

[the figure chuckles, and it doesn't throw another dodge ball until she's at least 3/4ths of the way there]

[the figure laughs, opens the door behind it, and slips through. a victory chime echoes throughout the room, and Kaito's voice comes over the PA system again]

"Not bad, not bad! You cleared obstacle one!"

If that's you, I'm kicking dodgeballs in both your faces!

[CHARGES AFTER]

[As soon as you enter the second room, the door behind you slams shut and locks once again. There are no pits this time, but there is a rather large rock wall in front of you. And by large, I mean like a good forty feet tall. Don't worry, there are soft pads at the bottom]

[The door is all the way at the top of the wall. If you guessed that the dark figure is guarding that door as well, you will have guessed correctly! It. . . has a bucket this time. A totally normal, non-threatening bucket. But if it's non-threatening, then why is the figure grinning so much?]

[oh dear]

"Obstacle two: climb the wall to get to the door. Careful, you might find that this wall is a bit. . . slippery."

[once she's about five to ten feet up, the dark figure from above drops a bucket of slippery slime riiiight on top of her head]

[you quickly find yourself covered in green slime from head to toe. some of the hand and foot holds above her are covered in it too, which will make climbing pretty difficult from here on out]
